5 Year Mark

In five years I will be a Child and Youth Worker graduate from Loyalist College. I hope to have at least two years working in the field of CYW.  I hope to work in a shelter or group home, helping troubled teens or foster children. I inspire to help them succeed and better themselves as people. Being a CYW will allow me to have an emotionally satisfying career. A career where I can be happy and enjoy what I am doing. A career where I receive personal gratification. In five years my boyfriend will be out of the military and we will move to British Columbia together. Have an apartment and start our lives together. My goal will be having a career as a CYW in British Columbia. Being a CYW will give me the lifestyle that I want. Seven days a week, shift work, nights, days, you name it. As long as I am influencing someone’s life for the better I couldn’t be happier. In five years, I will be 24 years old. I might possibly be engaged (hopefully). I hope that in that five years, I have changed or helped a teen in some way. Either helped them turn their life around, or helped them understand a little bit about themselves. Because a CYW will be time consuming and emotionally draining, my boyfriend (future finance) will hold off starting a family till a few years after we both get settled into our careers. I will be making an average wage being a new CYW, but hope to receive a promotion down the road with hard work and consistency. My goal is to have a lot more knowledge about the CYW field and a lot of hands on work. I hope to make a lot of new friends and meet a lot of inspiring children. Lastly, in five years I hope to be happy. Be happy with my life and the decisions that have gotten me there.
